A new feature for Android Lollipop devices dubbed ‘Trusted Voice’ has recently been unveiled. This feature will unlock the users phone once they say the words ‘Okay Google’.
Just as your fingerprint or face recognition is considered distinctive enough for biometric recognition system purposes, so is your VoicePrint unique too enough to identify you… Android’s Trusted Voice feature provides you the authentication of your Lollipop 5.0 device when you give an “OK Google” voice command.
There are several voice recognition devices and pieces of software already on the market, however these platforms are normally used as a second form of authentication only and not as the primary form of which google hope to do with this update.
Google hasn’t as of yet officially announced Trusted Voice and as so there is no official timescale to its release.
